This weekend, October 23rd, the UFC presents one of the biggest match ups in its history, when UFC heavyweight champion and former WWE superstar Brock Lesnar defends his title against undefeated, number one contender Cain Velasquez.

Picking a winner of this one is tough...both are incredible fighters with scary power and speed. But i think i've found a foolproof way to find out who is gonna be walking out of UFC 121 as the heavyweight champion of the world...

Taking inspiration from Paul The Octopus, who picked winners during this summer's World Cup. 

I have given my pet bearded dragon lizard the task to choose who will be victorious in this huge match up.

Both fighters have strengths and have been impressive so far in their MMA careers. Brock, showed tremendous heart and resilience when he came back from a brutal first round to hand Shane Carwin his first ever defeat, making him tap out to an arm triangle choke. 

Cain Velasquez looked like an absolute beast with his first round knock out win over former Pride & UFC interim Heavyweight champion, Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira. 

Taking their previous results and skills into account, the scientific formula used to find the winner is such:

• Two pieces of food, each one representing a fighter, are placed into the lizards enclosure.
• Whichever the lizard chooses to eat first will be the winner. 

I wanted to make this first prediction a special occasion with fitting food types, which also would have hilariously been puns on the fighters names. I wanted to use 'Broccoli' Lesnar and grated 'Carrot' Velasquez. 

Sadly as i didn't have a fully stocked out produce section in my fridge, the food used turned out to be a cut in half grape.

Still the same rules applied, one side was for Brock and one for Cain.

The fact that the lizard attacked my hand before either of the grape pieces is hopefully just a sign of her excitement about the fight more than her hatred towards me, anyway...

Without further ado let me show you some photographic evidence that the psychic proceedings really took place, under very fair and controlled circumstances.

"HERE WE GO!"both fighters enter the octagon...well grape pieces enter the Lizard cage, you get the idea though...

With both fighters represented, we just wait for the mystic Liz to magically predict the future...

ever the one for show-lizard-ship, Little Foot, builds the tension as she considers her options. Carefully weighing up each fighters strengths and weaknesses, taking into account any intangibles like title fight experience before making her decision... or she may just be checking which one is closer to some dead crickets...

and just like that, the visionary lizard picks the Cain Velasquez grape. Predicting a new UFC heavyweight champion will be crowned on Saturday.

And just to prove everything was fair and both grapes were edible she munches down the Brock Lesnar grape immediately afterwards. The timing of this decision, proves even the scaly psychic thinks it was a tough choice.

The choice is made, ladies and gents feel free to bet your houses on it, the lizard has spoken.
